HEADCANON: From the relationship the Doctor had with Amy, I feel that he had feelings for her, he just didn't know it. So I've decided that he does in fact love Amy, he just doesn't show it much. (NO JUDGIES, IT'S MY OTP)
M!A: None

The Return // Mag & The Doctor (AU)
Mag’s arms suddenly around him, he automatically hugged her back, afraid of hugging her too tight. “Shh, it’s alright, honey, I’m here, everything will be alright.” He continued hushing her, rubbing her back reassuringly. After all that he’d been through tonight, a hug was exactly what he needed. “Mag,” he said after a minute or two. “Cathy and I, we heard you screaming, what was that about?”
‘She’s been screaming for some time. Every time I ask her what was wrong, all she would say was River. I don’t even know who this River is.’ Cathy said, completely clueless as to who Rive Song was. At the reassurance, Mag’s darkened mind starting lighting up. Both Mag and Cathy had not yet realized the mental bond Mag and The Doctor’s marriage created between the two of them. A bond slightly damaged by River, whether she knew it or not.
Something in his clouded mind clicked, and his voice hitched. “River Song is…my ex wife. Not too long ago..I kissed her. I kissed her be cause I still cared about her - not in the same way I feel about Amy - but I cared and she was about to die - the present her anyway - and I didn’t know what else to do. Mag must have sensed it somehow…” The Doctor’s voice trailed off as his eyes averted to the ground. He suddenly felt guilt creep into his mind. He had kissed his ex wife while still being married to someone he was devoted to, and his excuse was he didn’t know what else to do? He had hurt Mag and he knew it. Again, he had broken a promise.

The Return // Mag & The Doctor (AU)
The Doctor’s eyes grew wide as he bounded into the house, freezing in place at the sight before him. Quickly, he snapped himself out of the trance, now kneeling next to Mag on the carpet. “Mag, Mag, darling it’s alright I’m here, it’s me.” He reached for her face, placing a hand underneath her chin, forcing her to look at him as proof that he was really there. “I’m here, it’s really me; I promise you I’m not going anywhere any time soon.”
Mag had heard Cathy, but was too absorbed in her blackened mind. ‘He’s gone and he’s never coming back.’ she kept playing over and over in her head. Moreover, at the first note of The Doctor’s voice, she thought she was hallucinating. That he darken mind was playing tricks on her. When he forced her chin up, her brown eyes looking directly into his green ones, she then realized it was him. Without warning and as if it had been far too long, she hugged her husband, squeezing him tightly, still shaking terribly. Not anaconda tight, but more of just a clinging tight.

[M]y journey through the universe. My path through time and space.
The Return // Mag & The Doctor (AU)
Slowly, the TARDIS doors were pushed open, revealing an emotionally broken Doctor. He walked slowly, almost staggering out of the time machine. Everything that had just happened was still sinking in; River, Clara, his future self, the shattered time line - all of it. The sight of Cathy ripped him from his thoughts, placing him back into reality. “Miss me?” he asked her, offering a ghost of a smile. “Sorry for the scare, little bug, but it was just one of those things that even I didn’t know what was going to happen.” ‘Doctor, what is your name?’ ‘Goodbye, sweetie.’ ‘You’re my Impossible Girl.’
Before Cathy could reply, the smile that was starting to form immediately went away when a blood curdling scream from Mag came from the house. “RIVER!” Mag screamed, nearly scaring Cathy out of her permanent vessel. ‘Mom!’ Cathy had ran into the house. That was when she saw her mess of a mother. On her knees kneeling, shaking on a major scale, even more so than when she was going through drug withdrawal, skin cracking and chipping away, as blood stained the carpet. She hadn’t heard the TARDIS materialize, and truly thought her husband was gone.
The Doctor’s eyes grew wide as he bounded into the house, freezing in place at the sight before him. ((Losing this Doctor is going to be like losing a best friend; he’s helped me through so much.))
